La Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) anunció las 10 películas preseleccionadas que competirán para hacerse un lugar entre las cinco nominadas a los Mejores Efectos Especiales en la próxima entrega de los Oscar.
Los diez titulos de este listado, son los que continuarán ‘en carrera’ hasta el 24 de enero, fecha en la que se conocerán las cinco nominadas que participarán en la ceremonia de la 84ª edición de los Oscars el 26 de febrero de 2011. En el camino quedaron Cowboys & Aliens, Sherlock Holmes: Juego de Sombras, Sucker Punch: Mundo Surreal, Super 8 y Thor.
